- The paper studies the librarian structure in five rural areas of the province of Valencia. It analyzes the most frequent problems of the public libraries located in municipalities of rural areas (bad facilities, obsolete funds, lack of professional staff, limited schedules, lack of automation, etc.). Also, the article offers possible solutions that help to improve the librarian service in depressed areas.
