- The author examines the possibilities of cooperation affored to public libraries in the Latin American region by county of origen, language and history and, especially, the recent institutionalisation of the Latin American Summit of Heads of Government. With the aim of creating a paradigm for Latin American public libraries, ideas and characteristics are put forward and the recent history of these institutions and the objetives set by different countries are commented upon.
