- The DGI [Deutsche Gesellschaft für Informationswissenschaft und Informationspraxis] magazine, "Information Wissenschaft & Praxis – Competence in Content" published in March 2002 a detailed study on the initiatives in the field. The authors (Michael Kluck, Thomas Mandl e Christa Womser-Hacker) offer a complete report of it, linking the project with alike experiences made in Japan and US. With Internet, IR acquired great importance, huge on-line knowledge, freely available through search engines. At the same time the need to value the IR systems grew following strict standards. In the multilingual IR to general problems are added those related to translation and information display. CLIR (Crosslingual IR) tries to supply documents in other languages and to search for relevant documents in a multilingual corpus.
