- The international collaboration is important at the present scientific research. Latin America, for example, is increasing its production of documents with international responsibility, as well as the amount of institutions implied in this activity. A developed index to measure the international collaboration, taking in consideration the individual institutional participation, reflected an increase positive average in the production of the Latin American investigators. However, the degree of institutional participation varies so much as far as disciplines. The individual institutional participation could become a motivation to extend its performance in the international science. In addition, this one index could be considered like a "indicador of quality" of the national institutional capacity.
