- The meeting conveyed an overview on the current situation of electronic information and its integration with the traditional supports in our libraries and on the new possibilities of services addressed to the scholarly community. The protagonists of scholarly communication, namely, authors, intermediary people and librarians, were the speakers in the meeting. The development of electronic information, thanks to the use of metadata and the linking technology, enables libraries to acquire again one of their main functions: to organize knowledge in an appropriate way aiming at its availability and use. Now, it is possible to integrate various electronic entities such as OPAC, database, full-text and correlate services. In addition, the opportunity for the library to create and manage links is at the basis of a library which is not only considered as a place where you can select free electronic sources but also as a place that creates appropriate relationship between a document or a piece of information and everything which refers to it.
