- Within the scope of the organization and representation of information, the conceptual models of the bibliographic universe are theoretical positions in the sense of directing the gaze of the cataloguer to the object to be described, with a view to the elaboration of bibliographic records and their functionality in catalogs using uniformity, despite cultural and linguistic differences, types of content and formats of their informational supports. Much has been discussed about the theoretical models of bibliographic information, a perspective that combines historically practical aspects with the theory and epistemology of cataloging. It was in this context of theoretical cataloging needs that IFLA proposed the conceptual models FRBR, FRAD and FRSAD, which undoubtedly impacted the guidelines, codes and standards used in bibliographic description, such as the RDA. As a result of the models having been elaborated by different groups, with different perspectives for some concepts, a unified model of the bibliographic universe was proposed, the Library Reference Model (LRM). Thus, the purpose of this research is to discuss the conceptual models of IFLA and their influence on RDA, in particular to discuss the initial conceptual models and the future dimension, with the LRM proposal, and the redesign of RDA with Project RDA 3R. The research is justified in order to bring up discussions proposed by the professional universe, the involvement of IFLA, and its adherence to the theoretical-conceptual aspects debated academically.
