- As an object of sacred art, stained glass plays a strong artistic, historical and cultural influence in the religious context and also as a patrimony of humanity. Because it represents a biblical context, the stained-glass window is not limited to the apparent image, possessing, in this way, specificities in front of other iconic genres. In this sense, the present research offers a model of documentary representation that seeks to guarantee the retrieval of information and access to sacred stained glass from its intrinsic and extrinsic aspects. Therefore, one works with the image of one of the stained glass windows at the Basilica Nossa Senhora do Carmo, located in the city of Campinas/SP, which depicts biblical contents. The identification of the terminologies that describes the material occurred through the Ranganathan Facet Analysis (PMEST), having as background the Library and Information Science literature for the treatment of imaging resources. As a result, there is a proposal of description that contemplates information of the artistic image of stained glass related to the biblical passages and the aspects of the ideational content of the works.
