  • Free software is a type of software that gives freedom to its users. With the coming of Internet, free software has consolidated like alternative, technically viable and economically sustainable, to the property software. Languages like Galician, the gaellic or the Catalan have had a very little development in the world of the software of property by the limitations that imposes. In contrast, in the world of software it frees these languages have been developed with a remarkable success. As important projects of free software as Mozilla navigator, surroundings GNOME or the GNU/Linux system have complete or partial translations in all these languages. Free software represents an opportunity without precedents for the development of minority languages, like the Catalan, in the new technologies thanks to the liberties that guarantee to us.
