- In the year 1946 the School of Agriculture and Veterinary, University of Buenos Aires (formerly Higher Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary) received the donation of an important book and serial collection which belonged to Dr. Pedro Narciso Arata (1849-1922), who was his first Rector. This is one of the most important bibliographic contribution the University of Buenos Aires has received in his history. It constitutes now the Arata Library - a collection of the School of Agriculture Central Library-, which holds about 14000 documents including books, pamphlets, magazines, manuscripts and photographs of multiple disciplines and areas. In 2005 the Central Library prepared the Project of put in value of this collection with the advice of different specialists. A diagnosis of the state of conservation was performed. It included the analysis of risks that affected the collection and provided recommendations for the control of environmental conditions and subsequent collection manipulation.
