- This research evaluates and analyzes the possibility for public sector information professionals to collaborate with the institution in the management of open data, taking the National Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries as the unit of analysis. Different concepts were approached in order to constitute a theoretical framework that allows understanding the presented thematic taking into account open access as a starting point to carry out the analysis. This is an exploratory descriptive study, analyzed from a qualitative approach. It was determined that libraries have great potential to collaborate actively in the management of open data in their institution and the importance of librarians being invited to participate in the discussions that encompass the opening and management of data. In addition, it is recommended that universities incorporate the teaching of open data management within the librarianship program and/or offer postgraduate courses in this specialization.
