- In 1999 the discussion focus at the "Online Information" international meeting – edited by Learned Information – concentrated again on organizational problems linked to information management, promotion and diffusion. The Internet puzzle could be appreciated following the four discussion topics: portals, metadata and XML language, electronic publishing, knowledge management. This last topic – much debated within the framework of Italian enterprises also – was the focus of the Italian Session of the conference: it resulted that, if about KM in Italy we are beginning to discuss much and in some big enterprises (Fiat, Telecom, La Sapienza University etc.) projects are being undertaken in that field, Public Administration and small/medium concerns still have difficulties in considering information as a strategic resource.
