- Cataloging went through a long period of stagnation, being rescued at the end of the 20th century. In this new hybrid universe, where analogical information systems coexist with digital information systems, new conceptual perspectives, cataloging norms and communicational objectives of the catalog, increasingly centered around user satisfaction, are the focus of this work. Another approach addressed is the relationship of cataloging with metadata and its applications in information representation systems. In the final considerations, several points and concepts are raised that need further reflection on the new contexts of cataloging.
