  • The crisis of the universities is not anomalous, since it is due to their natural form of existence, which allows them to be immersed in the processes of social change, and to be committed to establishing strategies in order to propose processes of national reconstruction, a mission that the situation above the material reality of society. In this sense, this research’s main objective was to determine the importance of the university to generate social change in the face of the Venezuelan crisis. The research was descriptive-explanatory, qualitative approach and cross-sectional design. The population was made up of documentary sources around the crisis and social change in the universities, and the sample was made up of documents and theoretical contributions regarding the crisis and social change in the Venezuelan university. The data collection techniques were the documentary review and study. It was found that the crisis in Venezuelan universities is due to the political crisis in Venezuela, which has repercussions on the university structure; however, it must assume its position of action to contribute to the understanding of the crisis and propose solutions. Based on the results obtained, it was concluded that the university, due to its social importance, must be reformed, in order to generate a social change that positively impacts the Venezuelan socio-political reality.
