- The usability is a basic necessity in the processes of creation of Web sites since it helps to reach the most optimal levels of efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction of the product to synchronize itself to the maximum with the objectives of the user. The studies of usability applied to the digital libraries, have to take to us to offer friendlier interfaces and to improve the architecture of the information, generating processes of more intuitive and simplified interaction, so that the operation of the digital contents is transformed into a positive experience of user. The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya has made a study of operativity of its interfaces of user creating for it different work groups that have analyzed the different casuistries. One of these groups was centered in the study and analysis of the usability of the Web site of the Virtual Library, having like objective obtaining a series of benefits for our users. Fruit of this analysis, is taking place an important qualitative jump in the new implementation of the Web site of the UOC’s Virtual Library, prioritizing itself the paper of the user from different points of view: the facility of navigation, the management of profiles and services associated to these and the reconstruction of the architecture of the information, all it with the final mission to facilitate the access to the resources and services offered from the Library, pleading in this same sense for the quality and improve of these.
