Daftar Isi:
- Law No. 12,244, of May 24, 2010, deals with the Universalization of Public and Private School Libraries throughout the Brazilian territory. Due to non-compliance with the deadline, Bills were presented, but without success. It was based on documental and bibliographic research, with a qualitative character. It focused on the role of public policies, in relation to education, as a guarantee of social rights to society in general, followed by the presentation of the importance of school libraries as fundamental elements for public policies. It was found that, even with the efforts of the System formed by the Federal Conselho Federal de Biblioteconomia (CFB) and the Conselho Regional de Biblioteconomia(CRB), regarding the search to support, guide and regulate governments, institutions and society, regarding the function and importance of school libraries, as well as implementation of the aforementioned Law, the legislation has not been complied with, due to a failure in the legislation itself, for not presenting punishments in the face of non-compliance with it, as well as for lack of identification and representativeness of the librarianship class together the society. It is concluded, rescuing the need of professional librarians, regardless of the type of library they work, to turn to the cause of universalization of school libraries in public and private networks in Brazil, as it is a collective cause in search of promotion and dissemination of information services, aimed at serving the educational system and the entire civil society.
