- The aim of this piece of work is mainly focused on performing a descriptive analysis that approaches us to the current state of the web as a medium delivering audiovisual contents and services. For this purpose, we would analyse a wide range of examples highly illustrative of the present outlook defining the web as a medium offering audiovisual contents to its potential users. Thus, we will go through the web in a trip including enlightening descriptions of radio stations, television offers, prerecorded and life broadcasting of events. Therefore, naturally, we must deal with the process coined as “Webcasting”. In addition, we will also deal with à la carte consumption of audiovisual contents, describing websites offering their users the service of Video on Demand (VoD).
