- The pace of change in the area of information in recent times, and especially in the last year that surprised us immersed in a pandemic, has surpassed the concepts of independence and self-sufficiency. Today's Libraries and Documentation and Information Centers operate within a complex universe of information, the parts of which often do not exist within the same institution, nor within the same country. The phrase printed on the carpet of an Australian public library “Google can give you 100,000 answers, but a librarian will give you the correct answer”, seems to synthesize what the SIDALC Alliance can offer us from the knowledge organized in the libraries of the southern hemisphere.
