- Nowadays, reference managers are invaluable tools to support the tasks of compilation, management and presentation of bibliographic references in research works. With the advent of the Internet and the transfer, by researchers, of their tasks to the web environment, the main reference management systems have evolved from their initial functional character to become collaborative tools whose function and value go beyond the generation of bibliographies. These systems have become true social networks that facilitate the discovery and visibility of information and of the researchers themselves.
