- The communication of science help to satisfy scientific information needs of society. In the case of Cuba, the universities have worked on its improvement from the permanent training of the university professor. However, the characteristics of the historical evolution of this training process are little known. The objective of the study was to reveal, in Cuba, the main historical trends of the permanent training process of the university professor in science communication. The methodology was based on the historical-logical method through the analysis of documentary sources. As a result, three trends of the studied process were unveiled, related to their epistemological assumptions, their planning, organization, direction and control, and the level of application of diffusion and disclosure content from open science oriented to sustainable development. The historical trends revealed help to better understand the main achievements and challenges associated with this process.
