  • Universities are increasingly making efforts to expand the open science communication (OSC) in profit of sustainable development (SD) of society. However, it is actually necessary to have theoretical-methodological constructs that reinforce the formation of professional competences associated with this communication. The objective of the study was to show the pedagogical relevance of a model and management strategy for the permanent training of the universities professors in OSC oriented to SD. The methodology was supported on the description of the theoretical-methodological bases used, which supported the execution of a longitudinal study with a quasi-experimental design in a group of 37 universities professors. The result was the formation and development of a communicative competence in these professors, which favored their professional performance. It is valued that the model and strategy can be used extensively in higher education to improve permanent training in OSC oriented to SD.
