  • Presentation of this special issue of Culture. Of the seven contributions that make up this dossier, it is clear that the definition and embodiment of policies and practices affecting libraries, books and reading correspond to objects of research and critical reflection, generating a rigorous analysis in the study and concomitantly authorizing a look at the present - or the past - as prospective parameters of a future that is already developed, or whose path can be desired. To have a prospective is therefore to envisage the present and the pathways as non-linear, not even necessarily harmonious intervention, which from the present allow glimpses of the future, pointing out ways as those that occur in an increasingly digital environment and in which technology intertwines with the critical possibilities of lifelong learning, reconfiguring even a more formal idea of literacy and dialoguing with categories such as literacy.
