- Since 2009, the open data initiatives have spread around the world when the USA’s government promoted the Open Government approach and its values such as transparency, citizen participation and collaboration. The objectives of this presentation are: review its principles and benefits, describe the actions of Argentina in this regard, examine the opportunities for librarians and develop a plan for government libraries to publish their own data. For this purpose, a revision and analysis of literature, regulations, procedures and good practice is carried out. One of the main challenges is the integration of the information professional in this scenario in order to assume new roles and strengthen ties with the community.
