- This article is a general view about a special collections in Internet. It has two points of view: the institutional perspective and the archives without organization, something usual in this network. The method is mainly descriptive, based in an exhaustive selection of all this special collections at Spain and other countries. The main objective is to know the variety of collections, and classify them by their functions, and also it describes their necessary requirements. So, first time defines the concept ‘digital library’. In second time tells the special characters of this type of collections. In third time, describes their functions and requirements for, finally, show a `successfully histories’.
