- The existence of a lingua franca for science constitutes a problem for those who do not have that language, and entails a scant dissemination of research in minority languages. When the vital languages are not mastered in the dissemination of a discipline, one can speak of language barriers. In the journals studied, we found a polarization of citations in the Spanish and English languages (94.49%). Furthermore, all the citations refer to only 8 languages: Spanish, English, Catalan, Galician, French, Italian, Portuguese, German. We believe that this is an impoverishment of scientific communication, a symptom of growing globalization, for which a good part of the studies in minority languages go completely unnoticed. However, the results obtained are not entirely due to the authors' language skills, as other factors such as the accessibility of the publications or the existence of a sufficient Corpus of research in Spanish have an influence, which mean that it is not necessary to go to all of them. languages.
