  • The exponential growth of online information, the increase in new forms and media, and the high prominence of the consumer user and producer of information on the Web, have caused a saturation in the consumption of information by people. Heterogeneous views arise on the same phenomenon, coming from different disciplines that approach it developing different theories depending on their objects of study and fields of application. In the library context, content curation refers to the filtering of digital content found on the Web, its organization and making it available to be shared with a specific community. The work that is presented investigates this new concept, which entails new practices in library services, particularly in the field of libraries of the UNLP at the level of faculties. The practices, methodologies used in the content curation process, the use of online tools and services, the types of content and the added value that libraries can apply when offering digital content on the Web are analyzed. To carry out the study, interviews with the staff and observation of library websites were used as methodological tools. As the main result of the research, it can be said that the UNLP libraries perform tasks associated with curating content and recognize it as a new process or task; however, they have not yet developed methodological and formal aspects in the tasks of selecting and processing digital content online, nor are they aware of or exploit the wide range of online tools to carry out content curation. On the other hand, libraries do not consider the diversity of ways in which information is presented online. This marks the need to promote professional training in this regard, a fact that will, in turn, result in a greater provision of services related to the management of digital content.
