- In Argentina, the origins of education in Library Science are given through a training course within the scope of non-university higher education, dictated at the Normal School of Professors "Mariano Acosta" in 1909 by Federico Birabén, but the Formal university education began systematically in 1922 with the first Argentine and Latin American schools established in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters (hereinafter, FFyL) of the University of Buenos Aires (hereinafter, UBA) and under the direction of the dean from the time Dr. Ricardo Rojas, maintaining his training to this day. This work aims to capture, from the articulation of educational theory and practice, three central aspects in the configuration of the first virtual diploma in Library Science within the academic field of the UBA: in the first instance the dissident discourse and its critical position as an educational value within the discipline; secondly, the implementation of the first virtual diploma in Social Librarianship by said university as an innovative environment within Argentine education, and finally, the assessment contributions of students and teachers in the educational journey of the same as a form of continuous evaluation of said experience.
