- The text reflects on the value of institutional repositories and the importance of having good metrics and evaluation criteria. Specifically, it stops at so-called altmetrics, of recent interest to both the academic institution and the author himself, by offering the popularity of a document and its reading potential, and ultimately the scientific or academic value or influence of the work. Its proper implementation in institutional repositories requires the analysis of several factors: choice of the tool, costs, standardization of the platform, monitoring and the interest of the user, fundamentally.
