- Acknowledgments in scientific papers indicate intellectual supports, financial investments, and influential contributions to scientific productions. Acknowledgments are generally personal and private expressions of appreciation and contribution. We used the raw number of acknowledgments in Iranian library and information science (LIS) papers to measure the breadth of contributions entities have made to the Iranian LIS research. Data were gathered on acknowledgments in nine Iranian LIS journals from the starting year to September 2011. In total, 99 acknowledgments in Iranian LIS journals were found. This research shows that the majority of acknowledgments are made to individuals for their "cooperation" and "help". Moreover, the number of acknowledgments to institutions is very low.
