- Libraries coexist in the world of innovation, production and productivity, as units that house the key word for these times, information, and that along with producers and society form a synergy necessary and essential to the development of countries. Libraries and their staff have survived the various technological revolutions that took place throughout human history, making great efforts not to disappear and to rise to the occasion. Starting from this point, it is important to study the changes they have suffered in relation to the innovations that affected them and that took and take them to play an active and dynamic role in this globalized world. This paper reviews the issues of innovations and the production of knowledge and places them in the environment of library work, especially university and specialized libraries, showing the evolutions and transformations that occurred with the incorporation of the changes brought about by new technologies.
