- Learning material about searching for relevant information on a subject, an aspect that plays an important role in the quality of the production of journalistic information. In the case of journalists specialized in reporting on health sciences, it is important that they know the specialized information sources in their field, as well as their characteristics and functioning. It is necessary to know the context and health documentation that will facilitate them to write with greater confidence and rigor. Different sources of information specialized in health sciences are discussed in detail, from the most general and free to access (such as search engines and medical portals) to the most specialized, subscription-based (databases, scientific journals, etc.). ) or free access (institutional repositories, etc.). The objectives to be achieved with this teaching material is to train in: • The search, location and use of the most pertinent health information sources for each information need • Identify and evaluate the different sources of health information: general, specialized, institutional and personal, official and unofficial, etc. • Acquire a capacity for dialogue with specialized sources: know and use the language of interrogation, develop search strategies, filter results, etc. • Develop a critical capacity regarding information sources • Control technical terminology and legal and ethical codes to transmit information appropriately.
