- Reading habit is reading behavior carried out at specific time intervals for knowledge / information acquisition to achieve short, medium and long term goals. It may show different characteristics in each individual. Some of the characteristics, such as the subject of the material, the reading time and period, the type of the reading tool, material and the format, can be shown as these differences. Most of the studies conducted to examine the reading behavior have found that there are different kinds of reading behavior in a given society. As observed in many forms of behavior, digital tools cause to emerge new styles that deeply influence reading behavior. The knowledge acquired in large scale through only paper type materials can now be reached through very different and more comfortable vehicles. Desktop and laptop computers, tablets, e-books, televisions, and/or smartphones are nowadays the most common means to read digital information resources. Digital reading, which finds its way mostly on these mediums, is defined as the process of act to read on digital information and information sources. It is an important issue to explore the effects of digital reading on understanding of what is read, feeling and thinking. This study is conducted in order to understand university students’, who are in contact with the digital content via internet, digital reading cultures, skills and behaviors. Through this research, it was tried to find out which side the young person focused on between the digital text / electronic book and traditional reading medium. The survey technique was used to make such findings. The total number of participants is 320. The most important finding obtained as a result of the research has been the widespread choice of the printed sources among the participants for the reading activity.
