- Mobile libraries, which are generally organized under the umbrella of a public library, are a type of library that provides services provided by public libraries by transporting them to pre-determined stations on a suitable vehicle. The mobile library services that were previously implemented on passenger animals were provided mostly by motor vehicles. Today, mobile library vehicles, which are generally created by redesigning transportation vehicles such as buses, minibuses and van vehicles in a convenient way to library services, have their own unique features. Mobile library services are mostly designed for special groups such as space addicts, patients, freaks, distressers, and low-income groups who cannot benefit from established libraries. In addition, they serve all public library user groups in accordance with the demographic structure of the settlement. In recent years, the services provided in mobile libraries are being enriched in parallel with the innovative approaches implemented in public libraries. In the study, the definition of bookmobile, characteristics, types, history, after the elements and forms of organization issues discussed today, are given information about the current situation in the world and in Turkey.
