  • Analysis of librarian Juan Vicens' mails to his friends Lulu Jourdain and Hernando Viñes. The 55 analyzed letters were written between April 1933 and September 1936. At that Republican time, Juan Vincens (1895-1959) worked as an inspector of the Public Municipal Libraries and the Pedagogic Missions, contested to get a post at the Professional Corps of Archivists, Librarians and Archaeologists, took part in the II International Libraries and Bibliography Congress, presented his doctoral thesis and organized the Popular Culture libraries. Librarian and Communist, he was interested in the new soviet popular libraries (and the Americans, English and Danish as well), the use of the Decimal system for classification in Russia and the proletarian libraries open by the unions and youth organizations in Spain.
