- Due to their relational and collaborative features and options, social networks as Facebook provide new spaces for political communication and interaction, especially referred to information exchange. This study presents a content categorization for political participation, based on the comments posted on Brazilian representatives. A total of 450 comments on nine north-eastern politicians’ official profiles were analysed. The proposed scheme is composed by five categories and 14 subcategories created by a methodological application of the Grounded Theory, according to the literal, organizational, by-user and cultural levels used in the classification planning for social networks monitoring projects.
