- Goals: Analyze the technical and professional bibliographic production related to the management and development of the collection to assess the study and reflection on library collections in a period of changes. Analyze documentation recovery projects related to the management and development of library collections. Analyze the production of technical documents related to the development of the collection (collection policies), especially in the Hispanic sphere. Methodology: The international bibliographic production collected in the specialized bibliographic databases such as LISA (Library and Information Science Abstracts) during the last four decades (1979-2018) is analyzed. Professional proposals are analyzed such as AcqWeb, Poldoc and PolDoc Hispànic (online directory that collects development policies and collections management). The content of PolDoc Hispànic is analyzed, this is the trends in the production of development policies of the Spanish and Latin American library collections by typologies, regions and years. Results: It is noted that the number of Spanish and Latin American collection policies is still scarce, there is a stagnation in the creation of collection policies in university libraries and a slight growth in public libraries. The need for a greater culture of the collection in the Spanish and Latin American librarian field is detected.
