- The number of Internet users' explosion and the continous increment of available content through the World Wide Web made the valuable electronic information stored in web servers is difficult to locate and also sometimes inconsistent. So, there are developping different standardisation projects to locate and control the distributed information in Internet, to identify the resources and also to structure, access and refer. This paper analyses diferent initiatives related to identification and localisation systems, to content description and to formal description of web resources. This work offers a big landscape of the state of art of Web documents localisation, identification and description. Besides, we present a thoughful reflection about standardisation.
