  • The aim of this article is to identify points of contact between the Ontology of Language and Information Science and to propose a analysis on the impact of Language Ontology in generating critical thinking about the role of professionals and users of information units. The methodology used in this research was exploratory, descriptive, of a qualitative nature and resorted to the bibliographic survey. The identification of points of contact between the two areas of study made it possible to perceive that, for the Ontology of Language as well as for the Science of Information, it is important to broaden the understanding of what is happening behind the way people act. The analysis of the impact of Language Ontology on the generation of critical thinking about the role of professionals and users contributed to situate the importance of the conversations and their consequences in the networks of commitments that permeate information units. The research provides inputs for the questioning of the role of professionals and users as active agents in the informational process. It also provides inputs for the development of alternatives for professional intervention in information units, considering the current trends and future perspectives of Information Science.
