- Environmental sustainability is a subject increasingly addressed in society. However, in countries such as Brazil, despite the existence of environmental legislation, voluntary programs, projects and initiatives to leverage environmental education, little practical implementation linked to lack of information and monitoring has devalued the solidity of sustainability, even in the face of programs such as Agenda 2030. In this context, partnerships between governmental, nongovernmental, commercial, educational and support institutions, such as libraries, can contribute to the dissemination of environmental sustainability, which could result in a significant increase in consumption more consciously, to the production and disposal of garbage in an appropriate way, and finally, to the awareness of climate change, etc. Libraries, therefore, can play a fundamental role in the reflection of the social responsibility of each one through information and, for this, it is necessary that the libraries adopt for themselves the environmental responsibility, incorporating it in its information services. Thus, the objective of this work was to identify how libraries have been working on the visibility of environmental sustainability in information services, having as methodology the analysis of libraries in Latin America, based on two groups of indicators: group A - mission, vision and values; the group B - sustainability level - architecture, management and environmental education projects / programs / activities. The sample of the research is constituted by the following public libraries: Library State Park Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) (BPERJ); Altavista Public Library (Colombia) and the university libraries: Carlos Monge Alfaro Library (Costa Rica) and the Central Library San Benito Abad (Argentina).
