  • Ricardo Rojas, Emilio Ravignani and Rómulo Carbia create in 1922 the career of Librarian in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires, constituting the first university career of Librarian of Latin America. Successive changes in curricula throughout the twentieth century show a tension between cultural training and professionalization. To the extent that librarianship is consolidated as a discipline in the international arena, changes in the university curricula are reflected. Two decades after the proliferation of the concept of "information society", the same discipline has been revolutionized. The objective of this paper is to describe the trends present in the design of the Study Plans through the conflict between the subjects of cultural integration and those that include specific knowledge of some of the so-called information sciences.
