- The characteristics and main results of the 'MSStudy II', a project to evaluate the markets for electronic information services in the European Economic Area (EEA), are presented ["Study for assessing the situation of the markets for electronic information services in the European economic area (EEA)"]. MSStudy II has been funded by the Directorate General XIII of the European Commission. The Spanish part has been carried out by the Catalan Institute of Statistics (IDESCAT) with the collaboration of the Multisectoral Information Association (ASEDIE). The MSStudy II, which has been carried out simultaneously in 16 European countries during 1998 and 1999, is an experimental statistical activity -listed in the Statistical Plan of Catalonia 1997-2000- and has tried to obtain data disaggregated by type of information, type of medium or means by which the information is distributed, type of user, etc. The results of each country have been integrated during the summer of 2000 by a team of German professionals --the ones who planned and conducted this exercise on behalf of the EC.
