- From April 12 to April 13 2016, the Annual Meeting of the international Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) was held at Vienna University Library. 80 participants from different countries gathered to share their experiences and discuss further developments concerning next generation repositories. COAR was founded in 2010 and has grown ever since. This year's meeting was dedicated to "The Role of Collaboration in Building a Global Knowledge Commons". International cooperation, whether on the levels of technology, content, or workflows, was identified as vital for the future of Open Access and long-term archiving in the field of universities and academic institutions all over the world.
