- The publishing house Quimantú marked a before and after that had to do with the purchasing and production of books. Its proposal, part of the political programme of Salvador Allende, was to promote culture into the ‘’popular world’’, particularly allowying the collection of us Chileans, to persive ourselves in another way. After the military coup in 1973, the dictatorship appropriated of workshops of the publishing house, and tried to install an imaginary new social idea, under de name of ‘’editorial Gabriela Mistral’’, raplacing its original iconography with a new one, that wanted to impose the ideology of the new regime.
