- This article presents a prospection of Universidade Federal de Goiás School of Information and Communication faculty members’ use of Open Access tools in Goiânia, Brasil. The objectives were to identify professors’ opinions regarding depositing scientific production in an Institutional repository at the University and finding out the trend in using open educational resources. This study used a survey including questionnaires to collect data along with faculty members. Principal results indicated a propensity to accept authorizing deposit like faculty self-deposit of scientific production in an Institutional Repository. Regarding open educational resources, the general position was not condescending with the principles of an open access movement because most of the professors informed that they use proprietary software programs to produce academic work and affirmed that they are not willing to allow modifications to an open-access of productions. The conclusion is a need of awareness regarding the importance of producing digitalized material offered openly and free in the School of Communication and Information at Universidade Federal de Goiás.
