- The primary objective of this researche is to consider domestic and international development of standards and standardization work in historical context. Detailed information on standards is provided that by this means. In further chapters, the ralationships between standard and documentation and information centres are considired. All library typs are discussed separetely and standards for all of these are examined. After this, the approach of documentation and information centres towards standards and standardization ore discussed. During the research, data has been collected with comperative, descriptive and survey methots. As a result, regarding international applications, the conclusion has been drawn, that standards equality library system positively and that they boost productivity.
