- The research explores the application of new impact assessment metrics - known as altmetrics - for evaluation of Brazilian scientific journals in the field of Information Science. The results indicate that few Brazilian scientific journals in the Information Science field are available to generate alternative metrics. However, there was an increase in the use of these citations each year, evidencing a preference for Twitter and Mendeley as the most frequent alternative citation channels.
