- We describe the background, development and present situation of the Information Literacy Program at the Central Library of the School of Agriculture. The Program started in 2005, and to the present, it has trained 4894 students and faculty. The Program is based on the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education by ALA. In 2013, we undertook a process of evaluation that considered curricular changes, distance education improvements, faculty and students needs. As a result of this process, and in order to enhance the Program, we submitted to the consideration of the Directive Board a proposal of a new optional distance course that will be in charge of a group of librarians from the School Central Library and will carry (xx) credits. Based on the experience gained, we present some reflections that might contribute to other institutions undergoing similar processes.
