  • Circumscribed within the context of preparation, planning and performance of plans to promote reading habits, as international, national and local organizations, as those of civil society, public, and private institutions and intermediaries (librarians) join efforts to influence the improvement of reader development levels. Having identified that efforts have not been successful, as there is a very low reading level in the population of developing countries, we propose the following objectives: a) to identify early reading experiences by librarians of a delegation from Mexico City in Mexico; b) to investigate what the preferred readings are to be implemented activities to promote reading habits. To meet these goals it was applied a qualitative research methodology by employing a guide of structured written questions as a tool. Sixty three of eighty-one individuals responded. One of the most important conclusions is that the first approaches to reading, these were not always beneficial.
