  • The documentary conservation guarantees the durability of sources and prevents restoration. Digital recordings supports through optical technology (OT) are the most widely used for storing information, but paradoxically the least addressed in documentary research on preservation. In the study, the methodology of the National Library of Cuba "José Martí" (BNJM) for the diagnosis of sites and collections are used; applying the variables and describing the detected weaknesses. In Villa Clara,"Martí" Provincial Library’s Multimedia Collection was diagnosed. It was determined that the collection of documents analyzed is at a high risk of deterioration, as well as short-term factors that can cause loss of information in the media were identified. The status of the documents favors the proposal of a plan of preventive measures in line with the situation of the collection.
