- The designation of digital natives is originally associated with an optimistic mindset about the effects of information technology on contemporary students, who supposedly possess greater mental flexibility and therefore greater capacity to adapt and generate responses than those from previous generations. However recent studies reported adverse effects in schoolchildren exposed to the new digital media. The first generations of digital natives is arriving to universities, and knowing their habits, expectations and practices provides important inside for modeling digital reading services than publishers and vendors offer to library users. From the summary of informative habits that distinguish this first generation fully digital and its context, we explore the possibilities of digital reading as a an effective way to deliver academic content.
