  • By considering the lack of data of the labor situation of librarians in the Republic of Argentina it was conducted the survey from the Legal Affairs Commission of the Pro-Library Union Assambly, with the purpose to highlight and reflect, primarily, the current professional reality at a national level. The invitation, with a response rate of 450 librarians (7.83% from the library population) was promoted by personal and institutional e-mails and through different library mailing lists in the country. This allowed to collect sufficient data –although not with total results—to begin a preliminary study of the diverse library labor situations. There were analyzed: levels of education; job posts; categories in the labor market; wages; contracting instances, etc. It is shown a summary of qualitative responses from the questionnaire that enrich the observations of the type of contracting, labor conditions, and employing institutions. It is left for future research the discrimination of data according to the geographical location of library professional workers.
